2020 Fond du Lac County Fair update May 7, 2020.
The Fond du Lac County Fair is a long-standing 168-year tradition founded on education, entertainment, and affordable family fun. The Fair Board understands and appreciates that many of your traditions and sense of normalcy have been placed on pause due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Rest assured we are doing all we can to plan for Fond du Lac County’s longest-standing tradition to continue in 2020. Safety and cleanliness are at the forefront of all planning given the concerns regarding COVID.
Over the next 4 to 6 weeks, we will provide regular updates on the many facets of the fair. At this time, we are able to give an update on the cornerstone of our event; education. We WILL be continuing all of our open class and junior fair shows this year. This includes our livestock and small animal auctions. Many details are being finalized yet regarding the schedule and type of judging and auctions that will take place, but there will be a show for all types of exhibits. Understand that things will most likely look different during judging this year than past years. Details on the format for judging and schedules will not be released until mid-June. We have contacted our judges, volunteers, and staff, and all responded with overwhelming support. The desire to make sure that the youth of our community had the opportunity to showcase their talents and efforts at the fair this year during this time of uncertainty was voiced by many. Entries will open on 6/1 and close on 6/25 and must be submitted online via our website at fonddulaccountyfair.com. Again, safety and cleanliness will be at the forefront of the planning and design of these shows.
It is essential that we made and announce this decision at this point to allow exhibitors time to work with and finalize their projects. Please note that as part of this announcement we are neither confirming nor cancelling any other part of the fair including the concerts. As of this date, we are moving forward with planning for all other aspects of the fair as though they will continue on as planned. We continue to evaluate each aspect of the fair weekly to determine the ability to confirm it or the necessity to cancel it. Updates will be released as additional decisions are made. Understand the decision to cancel any aspect of the fair is not our intent but may be out of our control.
We will post status updates over the upcoming 45 days. Our website and Facebook page will be the source for accurate and up-to-date information regarding the 2020 fair. We thank you for your support and participation in the longest-standing Fond du Lac County tradition, the 2020 Fond du Lac County Fair!
